Residents’ cooperation need of the hour: Patiala ADC

Says action plan in pipeline for safe road traffic in district

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Gautam Jain appealed to the residents of Patiala district to cooperate with the traffic police and the district administration by following the traffic rules in the district. He said an action plan was in pipeline for safe road traffic in the district for which road safety engineer and traffic police would seek help from the departments concerned.

Presiding over the meeting of the Road Safety Committee at the District Administrative Complex, ADC Gautam Jain directed the departments concerned to abide by the Property Defamation Act, including the removal of illegal posters and hoardings in the city.

He asked the Municipal Corporation and the Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry to take action to solve the problem of stray animals in the city.

The ADC directed traffic police Patiala to strictly enforce the traffic rules by taking strict action against those who do not wear seat belts and helmets and those using pressure horns and dazzling Chinese headlights. He ordered stringent action for wrong parking. He directed the officials of the corporation to take immediate and effective steps to remove illegal street vendors from the roadside.

The ADC instructed the District Child Protection Officer to continuously check the school buses under the Safe School Transport Scheme. He directed the PWD officials to conduct road safety audit and identify the accident-prone areas.

On the occasion, Gautam Jain assured the representatives of NGOs HPS Lamba and Ravi Ahluwalia for early settlement of issues raised by them. The matter of accident-free roads was also examined.

SDM Ismat Vijay Singh, Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Naman Markan, DSP traffic Ravinder Singh Randhawa, road safety engineer Shivinder Brar, traffic police inspector Pushpa Devi along with officials from Municipal Corporation, Public Works, Transport, Animal Husbandry, Mandi Board, Agriculture, Forestry and other departments were present.
