Punjabi University launches online portal to collect dept data for NAAC ranking

Punjabi University has launched an online portal to collect department-related data for the NAAC ranking. The university was accredited five-star rating in 2016, which is valid till 2023. At present, the university is preparing for NAAC accreditation cycle-4 for the next year.

The NAAC has modified the criteria, in which 70 per cent of the evaluation is done online on the basis of quantitative metric data, which consists of approximately 56 e-matrix data.

University officials said it was cumbersome to collect data, which includes student progression, infrastructure, teaching and learning, best practices followed by the university, its distinctiveness manually from all departments on the main campus, regional centres, neighbourhood campuses, chairs and research centres, along with administrative offices in the university.

During a meeting held recently, Satish Mittal and Rakesh Dawra, members of the IQAC technical team, discussed difficulties and problems faced by them during filling of the AQAR 2021 data on the NAAC website.

They said Sudhir Arora, senior programmer, IQAC technical team, had developed a website for the collection of this data from all stakeholders of the university for the compilation of the self-study report (SSR) for the NAAC accreditation cycle-4 due in 2023.

Sudhir Arora informed that the website was developed in-house at zero-cost with open-source technologies. Hosting of the website on university server was managed by the team itself, he said.

Punjabi University Vice-Chancellor Prof Arvind released the website for all departments to upload their respective data.
