Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit to attend Punjabi University convocation in Patiala

492 researchers to be awarded PhD degree

Punjabi University is all set to hold its 40th convocation tomorrow. Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit will award degrees and medals to students.

Vice-Chancellor Arvind said at the convocation, four personalities, who have excelled in various fields, will be awarded honorary D-Litt degrees. They are an eye specialist, Dr Amod Gupta (Padma Shri), social worker Vikramjit Sahni (Padma Shri), Physics Nobel Prize winner Samuel CC Ting and Prof JPS Uberoi. He said the Chancellor’s Medal in the academic field would be awarded to Bindya Garg and that in sports field to Vishwajit Singh.

Professor Arvind said at the convocation, 492 students would be awarded PhD degrees. Apart from this, 143 meritorious postgraduates and graduates (final examination of 2022) would be awarded medals.

During a rehearsal for the convocation today, students were in high spirits.
