Patiala, July 27

A day after a health worker was beaten up by employees of the Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC), the police have booked PRTC Sub-Inspector Sarabjeet Singh and bus conductors Sukhdev Singh and Vinod Kumar under Sections 323, 341, 160 and 34 of the IPC.

The suspects had thrashed a health worker following an altercation over space for setting up a vaccination booth at the bus stand. Meanwhile, the Punjab Civil Medical Services Association, condemning the incident, said the incident was very disheartening and demotivating for the entire Health Department. To witness such hostile environment, while working for the sake of public health, doesn’t augur well, it said.

Demanding action, the association said they had extended full support to the staff in such a situation and would assist them to get justice.
