Patiala, July 7

The Youth Welfare Department, Punjabi University, Patiala, enacted a play, ‘Chal Amritsar London Chaliye’ dedicated to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre as part of its monthly programme ‘Mangalkamna’. The play has been written and directed by Shabdish.

The play dramatically presents the documentary facts which were ordered not to be made public for a hundred years when Shaheed Udham Singh was sentenced to death. Later, after years of struggle, the said documents were procured by the Indian Workers’ Association (Great Britain) and the Shaheed Udham Singh Welfare Trust a few years after India’s independence.

The director of the play, Anita Shabdish, discussed about the life of Udham Singh, which were enacted by the theatre artists.
