Patiala, April 27

With the onset of dengue season, the Municipal Corporation (MC) has initiated fumigation to check the spread of disease in the city. The MC is already spraying sodium hypochlorite and twin oxide to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Municipal Commissioner Poonamdeep Kaur said, “Teams of the health wing of the MC will carry out fumigation with help of 25 small and three large machines.”

“The threat of dengue due to fresh spell of rain has increased, which is why the Municipal Corporation will carry out fumigation drive,” she added.

Spreading awareness among residents regarding dengue was important in the present scenario to ensure that water collected in empty plots and elsewhere drained in time, officials said.

Teams of the Municipal Corporation would spray larvicide in water collected at various places to stop the germination of dengue larvae, officials added.
