Patiala, September 18

The Patiala Municipal Corporation (MC) is now facing a challenge in tackling the dengue menace due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As the threat of the spread of dengue looms large, MC officials, who are unable to go door-to-door, have now sought people’s cooperation in tackling the menace.

The MC already claims to have identified and destroyed dengue larvae from more than 1,500 sites, while the district has reported only nine cases of dengue so far. Mayor Sanjeev Kumar Sharma said people should keep their surroundings clean. “Our teams, along with Health Department officials, have identified and destroyed dengue larvae from over 1,500 sites, but we need cooperation from residents. We have controlled the spread of dengue by over 90 per cent in 2019 in comparison with the situation in 2018,, but the MC teams can't visit houses this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.” — TNS
