Patiala, July 4

The police busted an inter-state gang of car thieves with the arrest of three members of the group. The suspects have been identified as Gursharanpreet Singh (24), Arshdeep Singh (22), and Naresh Kumar (28). The police said the three were responsible for stealing over 16 cars.

Patiala SSP Deepak Pareek said a special team was constituted to nab the members of the gang involved in car thefts.

He said Gursharanpreet was ‘kingpin’ of the gang and cases were registered against him in Faridkot and Delhi also. “The gang members used to steal cars at night and sell their spare parts,” the police said.

Police officials said the three stole cars from Green Park on Sirhind Road, Gurbaksh Colony and Ghuman Nagar in the city. Besides, they stole the vehicles from Bathinda, Delhi and other places.

Officials said they nabbed them from Banna Road here and recovered three cars, one master-key used to open cars. The police have registered a case.
