Health Dept seals chemist shop in Patiala

A chemist shop was sealed by the Health Department for violating the Covid-19 guidelines here today. The chemist shop was caught selling medicines, thereby, disregarding the orders of the district administration of providing medicines at door step.

The district administration has already ordered that no chemist shop would open during the corona lockdown. Only home delivery of medicines was allowed.

Sialkot Medicos near the Government Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, was sealed by a team of drug inspectors during a routine checking on Thursday evening.

Patiala Civil Surgeon Harish Malhotra said the Health Department had seized passes of many other chemist shops for not adhering to the administration guidelines. These passes were given by the district administration to provide medicines during the lockdown, he added.

“No one will be spared for violating orders. Shops should remain closed even while packing medicines for home delivery,” he said.

The Civil Surgeon informed that 103 people had been tested for the virus in the district out which 80 had tested negative. Until now, one person had tested positive for Covid while results of 22 samples were awaited, he added.
