Health Dept reissues advisory as cases continue to rise in Patiala district

Asks people to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour

Patiala, June 30

As Covid cases continue to rise in the district and the situation can even worsen in the coming days, the Health Department today reissued an advisory asking people to adopt Covid-appropriate behaviour.

The department also appealed to people get themselves tested for Covid without any delay if they have any symptoms.

Patiala Civil Surgeon Dr Raju Dhir said: “We can’t afford people becoming complacent about Covid. This behaviour can prove fatal for them. If people don’t adopt Covid-appropriate behaviour, it might hit them hard.”

He reiterated that vaccination was an important tool in fight against Covid. He said: “Vaccination plays an important role in the fight against Covid. It improves the immunity and reduces the severity of infection. Therefore, people should get their due doses at the earliest.”

16 fresh cases reported

Meanwhile, the district reported 16 fresh Covid cases today. Of the fresh cases reported today, nine were from Patiala city alone and Nabha and Rajpura reported two cases each. Samana, Kauli and Bhadson block reported one case each. The number of active cases rose to 95 in the district.
