The Patiala police nabbed four women members of a chain-snatching gang who allegedly targeted pedestrians at crowded places. The accused have been identified as Seema Rani of Passiana, Debo of Nabha, Sukhwant Kaur of Samana and Seema of Passiana, all aged 45-80 years.
SP Investigation Mehtab Singh said the police had received information that four women gang members were operating in the district and were involved in snatching gold ornaments and purses.
He said the police party arrested them from Sirhind road bypass and registered a case under Sections 379, 356 and 511 of the IPC. The SP said that a number of cases under theft and other offences, including the NDPS Act, had been registered against Seema Rani, Debo, Sukhwant Kaur in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
