Patiala, February 14

Four jail inmates of the Patiala Central jail have been booked for allegedly using a mobile phone, here on Thursday. The jail officials said a single mobile phone was being used by all the four inmates who were in the same zone of the jail.

In fact, jail officials — during a random checking of the said zone — recovered a touch screen mobile phone which was, allegedly, being used by all the four accused — turn by turn.

After receiving the complaint from jail officials, the Patiala police have already booked the accused — under Section 52- A of the Prisons Act. The accused have been identified as Bhupinder Singh, Parwinder Singh, Harinder Singh and Sunil Kumar. Meanwhile, the Patiala police said that they had registered a case and started the investigation.
