Dr Sekhon quits as PMC chief

Patiala, December 1

Dr AS Sekhon, president of the Punjab Medical Council (PMC), today submitted his resignation to the Principal Secretary, Department of Medical Education and Research.

Dr Sekhon, who was dean of the Gian Sagar Group of Institutions, in his resignation letter to the Principal Secretary had stated that he be relieved from his assignment immediately.

He had joined the president of the Punjab Medical Council on June 1, 2017 and his five-year term was due to expire on May 31, 2022.

Dr Sekhon has over 100 research papers presented at different conferences and published in medical journals. He remained national president of the Indian Association of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM).

Retired as head, department of community medicine, Government Medical College Patiala and Medical Superintendent of Rajindra Hospital in 2003, Dr Sekhon worked as Registrar of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences up to 2005. —TNS
