Patiala, July 8

In a heroic act, a doctor of the Health Department rescued a dairy owner who was reportedly trying to immolate himself last night. The doctor, along with health officials, had gone to Top Khana Mor to convert the area into a micro-containment zone when he saw a person trying to immolate himself. The person, owner of a dairy in the area, was worried over the shutting of his shop owing to the containment tag.

Frustrated, he first spilled several litres of milk on the road and then poured petrol on himself. Acting timely, Dr Mohammed Parvez Farooqi ran towards him and snatched the lighter from his hand before he could set himself on fire.

The doctor, along with a multi-purpose health worker, pacified the victim and assured him that he could run his dairy with precautions.
