Patiala, September 21

Residents of Kalyan village protested against the newly formed management committee of Gurdwara Ardaspur Sahib here today. They are against the “involvement” of outsiders in the committee.

Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Baljit Singh Daduwal was involved in the formation of the committee on Sunday. He said the new committee comprising baptised Sikhs from the area was formed after the previous committee submitted its resignation to him.

In July, a 100-year-old ‘saroop’ of Guru Granth Sahib was found missing from the gurdwara premises.

Dalbir Singh Grewal, a villager said: “The group of Daduwal formed a committee comprising seven outsiders and four villagers on their own. All members should be from the village only.”

Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Baljit Singh Daduwal said: “Gurdwara Ardaspur Sahib is not a village gurdwara, but a place of historic importance. People from outside the village also come, pay obeisance and provide rations at the gurdwara. The previous committee also had members from outside the village.”— TNS
