Cops seize 115 boxes of whisky, beer from truck

The Bassi Pathana police have arrested a truck driver, Rajesh Kumar, who was carrying smuggled bottles of whisky and beer, at a naka. They seized 65 boxes of whisky and 50 of beer.

According to DSP Mohit Kumar Singla, a naka was set up at the Shaheed Garh T-point by Bassi Pathana SHO Narpinder Pal Singh and his team. The police signalled a truck coming from Chunni village side to stop. The truck, carrying 65 boxes of English liquor and 50 boxes of beer, was headed to Chandigarh.

The DSP said that the driver could not produce valid documents or permits for the liquor. The police arrested th driver, seized the liquor and the beer, and impounded the truck.

The police official said the driver admitted that he was carrying smuggled liquor. Rakesh he was presented before the court and sent to three-day police remand. The police would question him to know where the smuggled liquor was to be supplied.
