Patiala, July 7

A family of Arnetu village, Patran, has raised allegations against the police for pressurising them for a compromise and threatening with registration of a cross FIR after some members of the kin were injured during a brawl with their relatives.

Complainants Gorkha Ram and his wife Shakuntala Devi, accompanied by their family members namely Dharampal, Dakha Devi, Raju Ram and Karambir, levelled allegations against the police during a press conference held in Patiala.

They said Gorkha Ram and Shakuntala Devi were attacked on June 15 at their home, a day after the former got into an altercation with the other party over filling water from a common water tank.

Ghagga SHO Ankushdeep Singh said: “All allegations are baseless. We are waiting for the medical report after which a case will be registered.” He said the family had sought time from the police to amicably resolve the matter. — TNS
