Patiala: Over 50 faculty members of 14 constituent colleges of Punjabi University on Thursday gathered on the university campus and complained about poor Internet facilities at the colleges. They they were not allowed to work from home. So, the university should provide them with better Internet facilities.

The university authorities, however, rubbished their claims. In a memorandum submitted to the office of the Dean, Academics, the faculty members alleged that they were not being treated on a par with teachers of neighbourhood campuses and regional centres. They also demanded entry to the university campus with passes.

Pushpinder Singh Gill, Dean, Constituent Colleges, said, “The teachers of the constituent colleges are allowed to function from their homes. The letter was withdrawn the same day when they were directed to ensure attendance at the college premises.”
