BDPO caught taking bribe

Patiala, December 13

The Patiala Vigilance Bureau today caught a Block Development and Panchayat Officer (BDPO) accepting a bribe of Rs 4,500. The BDPO was posted at Patran block of the district.

Jaspreet Singh Sidhu, SSP, Vigilance Bureau (VB), said that Sanjeev Kumar used to demand Rs 5,000 per month from his subordinates for clearing their pending medical bills and families members.

The SSP informed that the accused had already taken Rs 2,000 from the complainant on December 10. The SSP added that he had demanded Rs 2,000 more for the said work.

SSP Sidhu said the complainant had approached the VB and informed that the accused was demanding bribe. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act had been registered at the VB police station and further investigation was underway, the SSP said. — TNS
