Patiala, September 20

On the first day of the three-day migratory pulse polio round, a team of the Health Department administered polio drops to 12,305 children today. The drive was kicked off by the Patiala Civil Surgeon, Dr Harish Malhotra, by administering polio drops to children at Rajasthani slums in Rajpura block of the district. Health teams visited all brick-kilns, colonies of labourers, factories and slums, besides places where migrant labourers live.

Dr Malhotra said the department had set a target of giving drops to 24,169 children up to the age of five during the three-day campaign. Around 185 teams and 12 mobile teams have been constituted to administer polio drops in the district. The programme is being supervised by 19 health officers. — TNS
