Paramedical staff told to maintain medical records of jail inmates

Kapurthata Civil Surgeon Jasmeet Kaur Bawa on Thursday visited the Kapurthala jail and instructed medical and paramedical staff to maintain proper records of patients and medicines provided to them from time to time.

She told them to maintain a special referral register having full details of jail inmates as well.

Dr Bawa told the jail superintendent that eight specialists, including a lady doctor, have already been provided for the jail inmates from including surgery, skin, dental, medicine, gynae, eye, ortho and psychiatry from Monday to Saturday.

The Civil Surgeon also instructed the staff that emergency kits should be available in every ward.

She also visited female inmates and asked about their problems and instructed the doctors on duty to make sure that all wards and examination rooms should be well-equipped and neat and clean.

The Civil Surgeon also visited the kitchen and extended all necessary instructions about personal hygiene to the cooks over there and herself checked the food provided to the jail inmates.
