Jalandhar, January 19
As many as 7,393 candidates appeared for the Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (PSTET) that was conducted here on Sunday.
A total of 8,440 students had applied for the exam, of which 1,047 did not turn up. At every centre, two head constables, two lady constables and two traffic police personnel, led by a non-gazetted officer, were deployed.
The exam was held at various centres, including Arya Kanya Senior Secondary School, Devi Sahai SD Senior Secondary School in Basti Nau, Arya Senior Secondary School in Basti Guzan, Government Girls Senior Secondary School Nehru Garden, Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Adarsh Nagar, Government Girls Secondary School in Bhargo Camp, Government Model Co-Education Senior Secondary School, Sai Dass AS Senior Secondary School near Patel Chowk, Sri Parvati Jain Co-Education Senior Secondary School in Vijay Nagar, SD Phullarwan Girls Senior Secondary School in New Railway Colony, Shaheed Major Rohit Sharma Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Model Town and LR Doaba Senior Secondary School in Doaba Chowk.
While paper I registered 86.85 per cent attendance, paper II saw 88.35 per cent students taking the test.
Meanwhile, in Nawanshahr, 3,574 students appeared for the exam while 647 remained absent.
