'Z' category security for Yashwant Sinha

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) today decided to accord ‘Z category’ security cover to united Opposition presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha, officials said.

The officials said a CRPF squad had taken over the task after the MHA gave direction to the CRPF to ensure protection of the 84-year-old Sinha.

Armed personnel, about eight to 10 working in shifts, would escort Sinha whenever he moves across the country, they added.

A higher ‘Z+’ security cover of CRPF commandos has been accorded to NDA presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu.

Sinha is expected to file his nomination on June 27, following which he will travel across the country seeking votes in his favour.
