New Delhi, September 12

Picture of one of Kolkata’s well-known flyover in a newspaper advertisement aimed at highlighting progress of Uttar Pradesh under the regime of Yogi Adityanath has created a flutter with West Bengal’s ruling TMC accusing the UP CM of trying to appropriate development works done by Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata.

Addressing a press conference in Kolkata, Derek O’Brien, leader of TMC in the Rajya Sabha, said at last the UP Chief Minister, who extensively campaigned for the BJP during the assembly elections in West Bengal earlier this year, acknowledged that there was a lot of development in West Bengal under Mamata Banerjee.

The newspaper, where the full-page advertisement appeared in today’s edition, apologised for what it said was “an error”. “A wrong image was inadvertently included in the cover collage of the advertorial on UP produced by the marketing department of the paper. The error is regretted,” the newspaper said in a tweet.
