Telangana budget may offer relief to those hit by pandemic

Telangana is all prepared for the Budget Session of the Telangana Legislature that starts on Monday. All the legislatures have been asked to go through the COVID test and observe strict COVID-19 protocol before being allowed to attend the assembly. The annual budget of the state will be presented on March 18. 

Session starting on Monday will be address by Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan after which the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) will decide the agenda for the session.  

Finance Minister T Harish Rao has reportedly discussed the budget proposals with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. The state is estimated to have suffered a loss of around Rs 50,000 crore due the COVID-19 pandemic and the budget is expected to bring some proposal for helping out those hit economically by the pandemic. 

Legislative Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy has reviewed the arrangements for the session. He held a meeting with officials on March 12 and asked them to conduct a sanitisation drive. The Speaker has requested all legislative assembly members and other staff to wear masks without fail.  

Reddy requested all members, legislature personnel, media persons, staff of ministers and others to undergo COVID- 19 test that will be available in the premises of the legislature
