Sushant case comes up before parliamentary panel; Swamy wants AIIMS post-mortem report reviewed

The Sushant Singh Rajput death case came up for discussions on Friday at the meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on health with member Subramanian Swamy demanding a review of the post-mortem findings of AIIMS forensic expert Sudhir Gupta.

The AIIMS report had ruled out murder in the matter and concluded that it was suicide.

Swamy, member of the parliamentary committee on health headed by SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav, today said after the meeting, “In the Sushant Singh case, informal discussion took place in the committee today on my letter that Sudhir Gupta team report be sent to Medical Board of the Health Ministry for review.”

Swamy had intervened in the Sushant matter in July after the actor’s death on June 14.

The BJP MP earlier this week wrote to Ram Gopal Yadav seeking his help to procure details of AIIMS post-mortem findings in the matter. 

Sudhir Gupta met Swamy yesterday to share the non classified findings of Sushant post-mortem after Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan asked Gupta to proceed.

The meeting happened after Yadav, chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on health, wrote to Health Secretary to furnish relevant details to Swamy and said, “I am moving through the official process for a more thorough evaluation by the Health Ministry’s Medical Board of the post-mortem on SSR done by Mumbai’s Cooper Hospital based on the seven shortcomings of post-mortem pointed out by AIIMS Board.

"This is necessary before the CBI can conclude anything. AIIMS report is a review of Cooper Hospital autopsy report. AIIMS did not have the benefit of the body which had been cremated. This same report was sent to the CBI. Dr Gupta met me and was firm on the question of suicide. But he had no explanation for the irregularities in the Cooper report.”

Swamy said there are HC judgments permitting the police to refer autopsy reports to state medical boards for review and the same can be done in Sushant case.
