New Delhi, January 17

The Supreme Court on Monday asked the CBSE and a school in Odisha to respond to a petition filed by 24 students alleging illegal demand of money from them by the school to give them good marks in Class X.

The court issued a notice to St Xavier International School, Bhubaneswar. The petitioners have sought a direction to the CBSE to initiate proceedings against the school. “Issue notice. The counsel for the petitioner submits that in terms of liberty granted by this court, a copy of the petition has been given to the respondents,” it said. Next hearing will be on February 14. —
