Soon, CoWin vaccine certificate to have date of birth

Show comments

New Delhi, September 25

The digitally generated CoWin certificate of Indians inoculated with both doses of Covid vaccines will also include the date of birth (DoB) from the next week with the National Health Authority working on the new feature. At present, the vaccine certificate mentions the age of the fully vaccinated individuals.

The new feature is being added in compliance with the WHO norms on digital vaccine certifications.

Also these come in the wake of ongoing discussions with the UK to facilitate the travel of Indians abroad.

British High Commissioner Alex Ellis, who met CoWin chief RS Sharma, had recently said there were no technical issues with certification on either side.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for nations to enable travel by mutual recognition of vaccine certificates. The UK had on September 22 approved Covishield for travel, but put a spanner by implying that the 10-day quarantine would still be needed for Indians travelling to the UK. — TNS
