New Delhi, July 10

The Congress on Friday sought a probe into the Vikas Dubey episode by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court saying his political patrons needed to be exposed for justice to be done to those who murdered.

Congress General Secretary Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi Vadra led the demand.

Congress media chief Randeep Singh Surjewala while questioning the deteriorating law and order in UP under the BJP government said Dubey’s encounter left many questions unanswered.

“Congress demands that the unholy nexus between organised crime and the ilk of Vikas Dubey with those sitting in the echelons of power be probed by a sitting Supreme Court judge,” Surjewala said with Vadra seeking a judicial inquiry into the entire matter from the killing of UP cops, Dubey’s escape from UP, his appearance in Ujjain and his encounter on Friday.

”The Congress demands a judicial inquiry by a sitting Supreme Court judge that should conduct a probe into the entire Kanpur incident and bring out its truth before people.

The truth about those who patronised criminals like Vikas Dubey should come out. Till this truth and the links between politicians and criminals is revealed, justice will not be done to the eight policemen by him,” Vadra said.

Surjewala said Uttar Pradesh has become synonymous with criminalisation of politics and gangsters like Dubey roamed free.

He asked who were the politicians protecting Dubey; why was Dubey not in the list of 25 most wanted in UP; doesn’t Dubey’s encounter raise more questions than answers?
