New Delhi, January 14

Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president Dushyant Dave on Thursday resigned from his post, saying he has “forfeited his right to continue”.

Dave, in his brief letter, stated that the tenure of the SCBA executive committee had already ended and it might not be possible to hold virtual elections as per schedule “due to reservations held by some lawyers”.

“Following recent events, I feel that I have forfeited my right to continue as your leader. I hereby tender my resignation from the post of the SCBA president with immediate effect. Our term has already come to an end,” Dave wrote in a letter addressed to the SCBA members, without elaborating on the events he was referring to.
