SC asks petitioner seeking CBI probe into Disha Salian's death to approach Bombay HC

The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain a petition seeking a CBI probe into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput's former manager Disha Salian and asked the petitioner to approach the Bombay High Court.

“Why don't you go to the Bombay High Court? They know the case and they will take an informed decision and then you may come here if there is any difficulty,” a Bench led by Chief Justice of India SA Bobde told petitioner's counsel Vineet Dhanda.

The top court pointed out that the Bombay High Court was already seized of several such cases, and that it was familiar with the case.

The petitioner can come back to the top court "if not satisfied with the High Court order," the Bench noted.

Disha (28) had died on June 8 after falling off the 14th floor of a residential building in Malad West in Mumbai.

Rajput (34) allegedly committed suicide on June 14. He was found hanging at his Bandra house under mysterious circumstances. The Mumbai Police said it was a suicide and that he was suffering from depression.

However, the Supreme Court on August 19 ordered a CBI probe into the unnatural death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, saying, “A fair, competent and impartial investigation is the need of the hour.”

Alleging a link between the two unnatural deaths, petitioner Puneet Kaur Dhanda had pointed out that both died under suspicious circumstances and at the "peak of their successful professional career.

While demanding a CBI probe into both the cases, Dhanda wanted the top court to summon records from the Mumbai Police on the status of the investigation into Disha's death.
