PM Modi’s Principal Adviser P K Sinha resigns on personal grounds

Pradeep Kumar Sinha, Principal Adviser to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has resigned from his position citing personal reasons.

Former Cabinet Secretary Sinha, a retired IAS officer (1977 batch) of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, was appointed officer on special duty in the PMO in August 2019 after then principal secretary to the PM Nripendra Mishra requested to be relieved of his charge.

In September 2019 Sinha was made Principal Adviser to the PM and has since continued in his post.

Official sources said Sinha’s appointment was concurrent to the term of Prime Minister Modi or until further announcement whichever was earlier.

Sinha served as union cabinet secretary from June 13, 2015 till 2019. He was previously Secretary, Ministry of Power, starting July 2013.

Sinha has also been Secretary, Shipping and earlier held several important posts in the Union Government and in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
