New Delhi, September 16

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated Defence Offices Complexes at KG Marg and Africa Avenue here.

People spreading falsehood

People who are against the Central Vista project conveniently ignore the fact that the defence complexes project is also part of it. These people ignore it so that they can continue to spread falsehood about the project. — Narendra Modi, Prime Minister

Addressing a gathering, the Prime Minister said, “We have taken another step towards the needs and aspirations of a new India.” He lamented the fact that for a very long time, the defence related work was being conducted from hutments constructed during World War II, which were made keeping in mind horse stables and barracks.

The Prime Minister said these modern offices built at KG Marg and Africa Avenue would go a long way in effectively carrying out work related to national security.

He said people who were against the Central Vista project conveniently ignored the fact that the defence offices project was also part of it. “These people ignore this fact, so that they can continue to spread falsehood about the project,” he said.

He also said when the country was focusing on ease of living and ease of doing business, modern infrastructure played an essential role. “This is the spirit at the core of the Central Vista project,” he added. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who was also present on the occasion, complimented the Prime Minister for inaugurating the state-of-the-art facility.

“The successful completion of this project in a record time is indeed a significant milestone in the history of India’s defence sector,” he said.

Singh further said, “Previous buildings were in a tattered state and affected working conditions of our officers... Optimum utilisation of space was not done, which is why this complex has been brought up. Over 7,000 workers can be accommodated here.” — TNS/Agencies
