On completion of 100 days in power, DMK govt lists out achievements

The  Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government in Tamil Nadu claims to have worked on several of its electoral promises and delivered results as it completed 100 days in power.

An official release stated that even since the Chief Minister M K Stalin took over on May 7 last year, he had acted on war-footing on two fronts – first in providing medical facilities, improving the medical infrastructure by increasing bed strength, oxygen availability and ensuring proper distribution of vital drug – Remdesivir to all Covid patients and secondly by announcing a relief fund of Rs 4000 for the 2.07 crore families.

Releasing its report card on how it handled the pandemic, the TN government claimed that various Covid 19 related activities had been initiated.  ``The Chief Minister visited various hospitals at Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Salem, Madurai, Trichy, Chengalpattu, Chennai, etc., to name a few. For some of the other places, the schemes were inaugurated virtually. As availability of oxygen had posed a major threat to the Covid patients, the new Government took immediate action wherever necessary and the Chief Minister also oversaw a manufacturing facility at Kanchipuram,’’ the release stated.

 The Government allocated 250 crores  for construction of a Multi-Speciality Hospital in the campus of King Institute, in Chennai. As a first of its kind in the country, a new Health Scheme, “Health at the Door step” was launched,  to bring the have-nots under this umbrella. Media-persons were categorised as ‘Frontline Warriors battling against Covid’ and made eligible for solatium, in case of death by Corona. The Government also announced schemes of Fixed Deposit of five and three   lakhs for the long-term welfare of the children, who lost their parents to Corona.

The release further stated that various welfare measures were taken including the reduction of prices by three rupees per litre for Aavin milk and reduction of petrol prices by three rupees per litre. Also announced was free bus travel for all the women, differently-abled and transgenders.

The government, in memory of its leaders, Arignar Anna and Kalaignar, introduced and revived the following schemes:  “Anna Marumalarchi” and “Namaku Naame” Schemes. A new scheme, “Kalaignarin Anaithu Grama Orunginaintha Velaan Valarchi Thittam” at a cost of 1245.45 crore.  Another new Scheme, “Kalaignar Urban Development Scheme” was initiated.  “Kalaignar Memorial Library” - a new library with modern facilities at Madurai and planned at a cost of 70 crore  Singara Chennai 2.0 was launched to improve the infra-facilities of Chennai to the global standards

The new Government to get the focused guidance to achieve progress across all sectors, instituted an “Economic Advisory Council”, comprising World renowned Economists”. The DMK Government, which was instrumental in bringing many an automobile and other industrial units to Tamil Nadu, in its previous stint, has decided to give a new thrust to the industrial activities, the release stated.

Towards this, the Government conducted , “Investors First choice – Tamil Nadu” and signed MoUs for 49 potential Industrial projects, involving an investment of Rs.28,508 crore, giving employment to about 83,000 people.
