New Delhi, September 19
The NIA conducted raids at multiple locations in Ernakulam (Kerala) and Murshidabad (West Bengal) today and arrested nine suspected terrorists for their alleged association with Al-Qaeda.
A senior NIA official said the agency got a tip-off about an interstate module, allegedly planning to undertake terrorist attacks on vital installations in India.
The official said the arrested men were planning to go to Kashmir for weapon delivery. Those arrested include six from West Bengal — Abu Sufiyan, Mainul Mondal, Leu Yean Ahmed, Al Mamun Kamal and Atitur Rehman — and three from Kerala — Murshid Hasan, Iyakub Biswas and Mosaraf Hossen.
“Digital devices, jihadi literature and weapons were seized,” he said. — TNS
