The Indian Naval Aviation will be awarded the President’s Colour by President Ram Nath Kovind at a ceremony in Goa on Monday.
A special day cover will be released by the postal department. Indian Naval Aviation came into being with acquisition of the first aircraft in January 1951 and today it has nine air stations and three naval air enclaves along the Indian coastline and on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Over the past seven decades, it has transformed into a modern, technologically advanced and highly potent force with more than 250 aircraft. The Naval aviation played a key role during the stand-off with China.
