Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the Indian side’s initiative, said diplomatic sources.

The prime minister greeted President Putin on successful completion of the nationwide vote on amendments to the Constitution of the Russian Federation.

The president thanked the prime minister for congratulations and for participation of the Indian military contingent in the Victory Parade on the Red Square on June 24.

In the context of current issues of Russian-Indian cooperation, Vladimir Putin and Narendra Modi reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening of special and privileged strategic partnership between the two countries and close collaboration in bilateral format as well as within the framework of international organisations and forums.

It was agreed to continue contacts at various levels.
