A special virtual musical event to mark the festivals of Diwali and Hannukah was held with two musicians of India and Israel Lucky Ali and Liora Itzhak, treating viewers to some excellent music, conversation and exchange of ideas between the artists.
Hannukah is a Jewish festival that is similar to Diwali in that both symbolise the victory of light over darkness and are celebrated by lighting oil lamps or candles.
Liora is an Israeli singer of Indian descent and currently creates music that combines Israeli and Indian music. Ali who visited Israel recently recorded an album with another Israeli singer Eliezer Butzer.
The online meeting on Thursday took place via Zoom. Deputy Ambassador to India Rony Yedidia Clein opened the event and included a virtual tour of the market in Ramla in central Israel and a visit to a synagogue of Indian immigrants in Israel, Embassy spokesperson Muhamed Heib said here today.
The special broadcast ended with Liora’s visit to Tandoori Restaurant, and a meeting with the Ambassador of Indian Food in Israel, Rina Pushkarna, and the raising of a glass of Lassi, for the brotherhood between the peoples and in honour of Diwali and Hanukkah.
