Innovate to save resources, Vice-Prez urges scientists

New Delhi: Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu on Thursday called upon scientists to come out with innovative research to protect and conserve the rich bio-resources and livestock of the North-Eastern states. During his visit to the ICAR-National Research Centre in Dimapur, Nagaland, he said: “Our scientific institutions should work for development of location-specific and sustainable technologies.” oc

Delhi varsity Vice Chancellor to assume charge today

New Delhi: Newly-appointed Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University (DU) Yogesh Singh will assume office on Friday, said an official. He succeeds Yogesh Tyagi, who was suspended over allegations of irregularities and dereliction of duty in October last year. Tyagi was the first VC in the DU's history to face such an action. Pro Vice-Chancellor PC Joshi has been holding charge since then. Singh, who was serving as the VC of Delhi Technological University, was appointed the DU VC in September. tns
