New Delhi, November 8

Army Chief General MM Naravane on Monday said the Army was undergoing rapid modernisation and was increasingly looking at indigenous solutions for its operational needs. He was speaking at a webinar on “Indian Army Make Projects”, organised by the Army in conjunction with business organisation FICCI.

Gen Naravane said during conflicts and war-like situations only indigenously developed technologies “will be available to us for full exploitation across diverse domains”. Developing indigenous and local capabilities to confront emerging security challenges and reduce dependence on borrowed technologies is, therefore, an imperative need, he said. The Army in particular is most suited to lead this initiative, the General said.
