New Delhi, July 3

Bhutan, which is extremely selective about establishing diplomatic relations, accepted the credentials of Israeli Ambassador to India Naor Gilon. The credentials were presented last month to the King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck in Thimphu.

Bhutan has embassies only in India, Bangladesh, Belgium, Kuwait, and Thailand. Bangladesh, India and Kuwait are the only countries that have embassies in Thimphu. Besides, Denmark has a representative office in Bhutan. Even the US has no embassy presence in Bhutan. It is not known if the step will lead to the setting up of embassies in Thimphu and Tel Aviv.
