Indian Embassy in Kuwait hits out at Tharoor for retweeting 'anti-India' post

The Indian Embassy in Kuwait has upbraided former Union Minister and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor for retweeting a tweet by a “Pakistani agent” who was conferred the “Ambassador of Peace” award by Islamabad.

Interestingly, the Indian Embassy did not say whether the letter, which is the main crux of the tweet, is genuine or not.

“Sad to see an Honourable Member of Indian Parliament retweeting an anti-India tweet by a Pakistani agent who was recipient of a Pakistani award for his anti-India activities. We should not encourage such anti-India elements,” said a riposte posted on social media by the Indian Embassy in Kuwait.

The Embassy was reacting to a retweet by Tharoor of a tweet by one Saleh al-Mutairi who claims to head the Centre for Human Rights at the Kuwait Institute for Lawyers and Legal Studies.

The skirmish comes a day after Tharoor had advised the MEA to be less thin-skinned. “Most unseemly for MEA to summon the High Commissioner of a friendly country like Singapore over some remarks by their PM to their own Parliament,” he had said.
