New Delhi, May 25

India appears to be staring at the July peak of the Covid-19 pandemic with the new cases increasing daily. On Monday, the 24-hour surge in the cases crossed the 7,000-mark.

The disease load in the country soared to 1,38,345 with 57,720 recoveries and 4,021 deaths. The government continued to stress on the positives saying recovery rate had further improved to 41.57 per cent with the case doubling rate still 13 days.

For the past four days, the daily cases have risen from 6,000 plus cases to the 7,000-mark. Although the daily case growth rate is still stable at around 5 pc, the rising disease graph is against the anticipated results by public health experts who had hoped the curve would regress. — TNS
