New Delhi, January 9

The government on the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) asked the overseas diaspora youth to take advantage of opportunities in three areas of critical technology that will play a key role in India’s growth story.

While the PM lauded the Indian diaspora, senior officials at the virtual Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Conference 2022 listed advanced battery storage, green hydrogen and geo-spatial applications where the government was committed to promoting innovators and the industry.

The Indian diaspora serves as a living bridge connecting India to the world, Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan said.

He said the government had taken a series of initiatives to connect to the diaspora and collaborate in science and technology.

Speaking at the conference, Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant said advanced battery storage offered a great opportunity especially because of the government’s push towards e-mobility and renewable power.

“With rising levels in per capita income, the demand for consumer electronics will increase in a vast range of areas. It makes manufacturing of advanced batteries one of the largest eco opportunities for the 21st century globally,” he said.
