New Delhi, July 6

Germany has announced easing of entry ban on travellers from India and four other countries where the Delta variant is widespread.

The German health agency said India, Nepal, Russia, Portugal and the UK, currently listed as virus variant countries, would be reclassified from Wednesday as “high-incidence areas”.

Germany has already announced that it will accept travellers vaccinated with Covishield and Covaxin.

Though the change eases a ban on entry for non-German travellers, they will have to observe quarantine and testing rules.

German Ambassador to India Walter Lindner said, “From tomorrow Germany will remove the entry ban and ease travel rules for five countries where the Delta variant is widespread, including India.” — TNS
