Four more vaccines in pipeline

New Delhi, April 12

As the government moved to ease vaccine supplies, Biotechnology Secretary Renu Swarup today said four more vaccines were in advanced stages of development in India.

“The DNA vaccine candidate by Zydus Cadila is currently in Phase III clinical trial stage. The protein subunit vaccine developed by Biological E has completed Phase II clinical trials.

  • Zydus Cadila’s DNA vaccine in Phase III trials
  • Biological E’s protein subunit vaccine through Phase II trials
  • Gennova’s RNA vaccine candidate in Phase I trials
  • Bharat Biotech’s intranasal vaccine in Phase I trials

The messenger RNA vaccine candidate by Gennova and the replication deficient adenoviral intranasal vaccine by Bharat Biotech are currently in Phase I clinical trial stage of development,” Swarup told The Tribune today. On Sputnik V, the non-replicating viral vector vaccine developed by Gamaleya Institute of Russia, Swarup said Dr Reddy’s had concluded large late-stage clinical trials on it in India and the data was shared with the regulator as per requirements. — TNS
