A massive contact tracing effort is underway across parliament circles after evidence that several politicos leaders were in contact with coronavirus positive Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor on March 18 night at a private party in Agra.

Former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje and her Member of Parliament son Dushyant Singh said on Friday they had put themselves in home isolation for 14 days after being at a party where Kapoor.

It is further learnt that several Uttar Pradesh MPs were also at the same party with Kapoor on March 18 and these MPs were later hosted by President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan for lunch.

The central government was silent on whether all these MPs too would need to isolate themselves as per protocol.

A senior officer did not comment when asked if the President too would need to remain in isolation for 14 days having come in contact with some MPs who had a contact history with Kapoor.

Meanwhile, Health Ministry said Uttar Pradesh Government had all the powers to proceed against Kapoor who knowingly moved out despite being symptomatic for coronavirus.

“States have powers to take action against those who spread infectious diseases,” health ministry joint secretary Lav Agarwal said.
