New Delhi, November 23

The government on Tuesday announced a mega event to mark the Constitution Day on November 26 and invited citizens to read the Preamble with President Ram Nath Kovind.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi today said President Kovind will lead the celebrations of Constitution Day live from the Central Hall of Parliament on November 26 at 11 am. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be present.

“After the speech of the President, the whole nation is invited to read the Preamble to the Constitution live with him. The public and institutions can join the reading from their locations following the Covid 19 protocols,” Joshi said.

He said to aid public participation, the ministry had developed a portal (mpa.nic.in/constitution-day) for “Online Reading of the Preamble to the Constitution” in 23 languages (22 official languages and English). Anyone can visit the portal to get a copy of the preamble in their chosen language and participate in the national celebration.

Padma Shri Jai Prakash Lakhiwal has designed the frame for the Preamble on the portal in a way that reflects elements of each state and UT of India. “People can download certificates after the reading,” Joshi added.

The ministry has also developed another portal—“Online Quiz on Constitutional Democracy” (mpa.nic.in/constitution-day) -- to be launched by President Kovind on November 26.
