New Delhi, January 25

A day ahead of the tractor parade, Samyukta Kisan Morcha leader Yogendra Yadav has sought to dispel various speculations regarding the parade.

Yadav said the parade would start from nine spots — five on Delhi border and four on the spots located on the Rajasthan-Haryana border namely Shahjahanpur, Palwal and Nuh.

“Please remain firm on principles and compromise on details. The principle is that we are having a parade on January 26 as we wanted and that is the most important thing,” he said.

Regarding the demand for the Outer Ring Road by some factions, Yadav said the Outer Ring Road was only 47 km long, and judging by the overwhelming response the agitation had received, the parade could not be contained even in 250 kms.

“This is why we have made nine rings so that everyone can participate,” Yadav said.

“Delhi police wanted the Outer Ring Road for rescue and relief in the case of any emergency and that is why we are not going on it. Please consider the bigger picture — which is that farmers, for the first time, are holding such a big rally. I would urge those insisting on Outer Ring Road to remember that,” Yadav added.

“No one will remember which road the parade was held on when people talk about this event in future. People will only remember it as a historic event with widespread impact,” Yadav said.

He added that hopefully, tomorrow, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi saw their peaceful parade, he would be forced to “reconsider his decision” regarding the three farm laws.
