Congress, Akali Dal back farmers, protest in Parliament

New Delhi, July 22

Congress and Akali Dal MPs on Thursday protested at Parliament House in solidarity with the farmers, who are here on Thursday to protest against farm laws.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi led the party’s agitation on the issue at the Gandhi statue.

Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and his wife and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal also held placards against the laws and flashed these at Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar when he entered Parliament.

“Akali Dal won’t give up till farm laws are repealed,” Sukhbir tweeted.

Adjournment notices in both Houses on the issue were disallowed by presiding officers.

Notices were given by Congress’s Manish Tewari (Lok Sabha), Partap Bajwa and Deepender Singh Hooda (Rajya Sabha), Akali Dal’s Harsimrat Badal (Lok Sabha) and AAP’s Bhagwant Mann (Lok Sabha).
